Soi 4, home to the infamous Nana Plaza. This area is notorious for its cheap alcohol, adult entertainment and GoGo bars a plenty. This eclectic area is not for the faint hearted.

Transportation and Roads in Nana

Nana has its own stop on the BTS Skytrain, E3 Nana. The BTS Skytrain’s Sukhumvit line runs right through the centre of Sukhumvit road, offering fast and cheap travel to the outer corners of Bangkok, from Khu Khot to Khe Ha and everywhere in between. E3 Nana is only one BTS station away from E4 Asok, where you can change to the MRT underground lines and only 3 stops to Siam (the Centre) where you can change to BTS Silom Line.

Chalerm Maha Nakorn highway also runs right through Nana Neighbourhood, making it easy to connect to outer expressways. Bangkok’s two airports are within commuting reach, both Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport are less than one hour away by car. Taxis to the airport are usually around 300-400 baht for a generic 4-seater car.

Alternatively, you can travel Bangkok Style. The fastest way to zip through the city’s traffic is by motorbike taxi or Tuk-Tuk, both of which are easy to flag down in Nana, but be warned, you’ll be in for a thrilling ride.

There is also the option to travel by canal boat from Saphan Nana Nua Pier, this is the cheapest way to reach all of Bangkok’s most famous monuments including The Grand Palace, The Golden Mount and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

The Schools and Universities in Nana

When looking for schools in Bangkok, it’s important to note that a lot of International Schools are located on the outskirts of the city. Most offer a school bus pick-up and drop-off service, making it convenient for families living in the inner city.

Regent’s International school, KIS International school and RBIS International school are all fantastic International Schools located around 25-45 minutes away from Nana BTS station and offer this transport service for students.

Nana offers a wide range of shopping ventures. Oozing with culture, you will find pop-up market stalls, Thai milk tea & coffee vendors and bazaars lining the streets. Amidst them, up-scale malls, supermarkets and tailors, creating the perfect juxtaposition of old and new.  The best areas to shop in Nana include:

  1. Nana Square: This multi-storey Shopping Mall offers higher quality clothing, sports goods, electronics and pharmacies. It is also home to many banks making it very convenient to have nearby.
  1. Glass Nana: A beautiful glass mall situated underneath the Fortune Hotel. A boutique arcade filled with bags, home décor items, jewellery and antiques.
  1. Sukhumvit Street Market: At night, market stalls pop-up along Sukhumvit Road, spanning the whole of Nana neighbourhood. Here you can find clothing, souvenirs, art, jewellery, shoes, sportswear and humorous nik-naks. Be warned if you are shopping with children, as some stores may sell more ‘adult’ themed merchandise.

Where there are people, there are hospitals. One of Bangkok’s best hospitals, Bumrungrad Private Hospital is located in Nana on Sukhumvit soi 3. There is also BPK9 Hospital on the same road, as well as PULSE clinic on Soi 11. Most roads in Nana also have a pharmacy, making medical care within an easy and convenient reach.
